Good to know before you go

  • Open Tuesday to Sunday. Closed every Monday for maintenance, and on New Year's Day and the first day of Christmas and Easter.
  • Access is by guided tour only, at fixed morning times — self-guided visits are not possible.
  • Tickets go on sale 10 days before the visit date and places are limited, so book them as soon as they open.
  • Children under 5 are not admitted, for safety reasons; ages 5–18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring proof of age.
  • Ticket prices are set by the sanctuary and differ slightly between weekdays and weekends; students aged 18–24 get a reduced rate, and visitors with a disability certificate enter free.
  • The visit follows a 2 km forest trail and takes about 1 hour 15 minutes — comfortable walking shoes matter.

How do I get to Libearty Bear Sanctuary from Brașov?

It's about 27 km from Brașov towards Zărnești and the Piatra Craiului mountains — roughly a 45-minute drive. There are trains and buses to Zărnești, but the sanctuary is outside the town, so you'd still need a taxi. Our transfer takes you there and back and waits for you during the visit.

Do I need to buy the sanctuary ticket myself?

Yes. Entrance tickets are sold by the sanctuary and are not included in the transfer price. They go on sale 10 days before your visit date and sell out, so buy them as soon as they're available and tell us your tour time.

When is the sanctuary open?

Tuesday to Sunday, mornings only, with guided tours at fixed departure times. It is closed every Monday for maintenance, and on New Year's Day and the first day of Christmas and Easter.

Can I walk around on my own?
